As the values of Tết - the traditional Vietnamese Lunar New Year - is slowly and constantly diluted in the fast-paced modern world, Hooga Production wanted to create the web series Tết Nữa (Tết Again) to remind viewers of the cultural significance of this holiday.

Aiming to fully convey the essence of Tet, we placed great emphasis on the authenticity alongside aesthetics of the set design. I was in charge of graphic design and typography, supporting the pre-production casting and pitching process, production set design, and post-production animation.

Production design

Throughout the making of Tết Again, I had the chance to apply graphic design to video production, and collaborated with crew members from different creative fields. On the other hand, the series' topic also presented us the challenge of balancing between Vietnamese cultural heritage (through the use of traditional texture, colors, design) and modern digital media (overlay animations and production techniques) in order to reach the audience more effectively.

Typography

From the title to the smallest footnote, every information included in the episodes was hand-drawn and animated with the inspiration of Vietnamese calligraphy, for its vital role in Vietnamese Tet tradition and everyday life.
