"Understand yourself first if you want to understand others." - Oscar Wilde

At the starting line of my career as a Graphic Designer - someone who will bring visual solutions and identities to clients, I believe I must first understand and introduce my own brand to the world. Making your own Identity Kit turned out to be rather difficult, because there were so many questions you had to ask and answer yourself, such as: - Who am I? vs. Who am I portraying through this? - What are my skills, preferences and workflow? - How to make my designs contemporary but not cliché? (or How to make sure this is something I love for now AND can be proud of for a while?) - How to tell my story personally but professionally? and many entailed regarding the technical aspects of the kit.

KEY VISUAL AND GUIDELINE

With the theme 'a starry night', the crescent moon and star were chosen to be the kit's key visual, referring to the endless interest and inspiration I have from nature and surrounding environment. In details: - Color palette: classic blue and golden yellow as primary colors, sky and sand as secondary, dark-sky and moonlight as tertiary colors - while reflecting the theme, the palette also balances between cool - warm and light - dark tones. - Font: Heading typeface Larken, with nature-inspired glyphs and expressive serif tails, is paired with highly geometric and modern Body typeface Satoshi, ensuring both personality and readability of the designs. - Logo: logotype of my name's initial letter V intertwined with the crescent moon icon. After many revisions, the final design is a linework cut out of a circular background (which ensures the symmetry and safe zone of the logo when being placed into other pieces of the kit). The star is also designed as linework, and can be used as icon or decorative pattern.

IDENTITY KIT COMPONENTS

The guideline was then applied into developing a complete identity kit, with Business card, CV - Cover letter, Envelope, Notebook and a set of Stickers. This Portfolio website is also implementing these visual elements.
